|October 2020. Art meets Industry.
An example of successful cooperation between culture and local industry – in this case
Using photography, sound sampling and video, Manuel Schroeder depicts the temporary landscapes, the intermediate worlds of the extraction of the material via the paths of the rock up to the renaturation of the landscapes.
For a special event in this context, the Phoenix cement works are opening their industrial plants: On October 2, 2020, Manuel Schroeder, accompanied by the film artist Nesih Munz, presents light and sound art installations directly in the Phoenix quarry.
The project is under the patronage of Henning Rehbaum, economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and is supported by the Beckum Museum Association, the Ellefred Foundation and the Kunstverein Raumordnung – Gesellschaft für urbane Kunst und Gestaltung eV, Krefeld and the Volksbank Beckum.
As a further sponsor, the Kultursekretariat NRW Guetersloh brings art directly to the people – or directly into the quarry – with the project City Occupation.
